Tara's Walk for Change

Last year, Tara Costigan's death evoked an unprecedented outpouring of sympathy and sadness from the people of Canberra and the surrounding region.

Hoping to have around 100 members come together for the 5km ‘Walk for Tara’, all expectations were exceeded when 5,500 people from all walks of life joined together to demand real change on Family Violence. At the Walk’s conclusion Tara’s family and friends announced the establishment of the Tara Costigan Foundation.

In 2016, ‘Tara’s Walk for Change’ will be held on Saturday 19th March from 8am with official speeches and a one minute silence being held at 8:30am. The walk will begin shortly after.

The Walk will bring the National Family Violence Summit to a formal close while demonstrating the nation’s will to defeat the cycle of family violence.

The walk will begin at Patrick White Lawns, with the circuit leading to Lennox Gardens and then looping back to Patrick White Lawns on completion. Please see map.

The walk is approximately 4km along.
