The Tara Costigan Foundation held the first National Family Violence Summit in March and it was a fantastic success, bringing together front-line workers, DV survivors, political leaders and experts.
The Prime Minister and Opposition Leader addressed the Summit, which also featured discussions about media involvement, warning signs, root causes and legal perspectives on family violence. During the Prime Minister’s speech, he said that Tara's death and story was a reminder of the reality of those caught in the scourge of domestic violence.
The whole TCF team was very happy and excited to announce on the second day of the Summit that Australian of the Year 2016, former Chief of Army and equality champion David Morrison, is the Patron of the Foundation.
TCF is now deep in reporting mode and will be releasing the report from the Summit at the end of this month.
